Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs are small insects with oval shaped flattened bodies that are reddish-brown in color that feed off of the blood of animals. Often mistaken for ticks, cockroaches, beetles, or other household insects Bed Bugs feed off of humans, dogs, cats, birds, and even rodents. The do not jump or fly but they can crawl rabidly over floors, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.

Over the past decade Bed Bugs infestations have increased in homes, apartments, hotels, healthcare facilities, dormitories, shelters, and in school and public transportation. Bed Bugs can also be a problem for movie theaters, office buildings, and anywhere there is furniture or a place for them to live. These pests are very resilient and can persist for months without feeding, they can survive for very long periods in cooler temperatures without eating. Bed Bugs are active at night and prefer to hide close to where people sleep during the day such as box springs, mattresses, bed frames, and headboards.

Signs of an infestation are dark spotting and staining near crevices and seams of bedding and furniture. Other signs include the presences of hatched and un-hatched eggs, skin shedding, and reddish smears on sheets or mattresses, and of course evidence of  bites.

BMI Pest Management Technicians are experienced at Bed Bug Eradication. We perform thorough and in depth inspections of the infected and surrounding areas to identify the many places where these pests can hide and will devise a proper plan to ensure the problem is solved. Once a plan is established we begin with our safe and effective treatment, once treated we begin the removal process, and future preventive measures are planned and implemented.
